ST Appoints New Chairman (14/01/05)
Strategic Thought Limited, the technology and service company, has appointed Peter Morgan as non-executive Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Peter Morgan spent the first 30 years of his career with IBM, having been an Executive Director of IBM (UK) and the Group Director of Marketing for IBM Europe. He left IBM in 1989 to take up an appointment as Director General of the Institute of Directors (IoD). While at the IoD he began a portfolio career which has involved chairman roles at NPI, Pace MicroTechnology, SWALEC, Baltimore Technologies and KSCL. His present portfolio includes chairmanships of Technetix plc and directorships at Oxford Instruments plc and Hyder Consulting plc. He is also a member of the Council of Lloyds, a director of the Association of Lloyd's Members and a member of Kinnect, the Lloyd's technology subsidiary.
Prior to the IoD his background was purely corporate. At the IoD Peter was introduced to the world of entrepreneurs and small and medium sized business. He developed the greatest respect for the founders and managers of small firms on which he believes future employment and prosperity depend. Having been involved with such companies in the portfolio phase of his career, he was delighted to have the opportunity to join Strategic Thought.
